Who knew that was a command of Jesus? . . . Well, at least the first part.
Matthew 6:25″Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? . . .
33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
I love the very last sentence. It reminds me to be on guard right now, in the current moment. The devil is always looking for ways to bring me down and if he succeeds today, what good is planning for tomorrow. I don’t have time to worry because I need to focus on what is happening in the present.
In this economic ‘crisis’, we tend to stress out a little bit and lose our focus on the important things in life. We (Americans) are still more rich than many other countries/people in this world. Let’s focus on the now, let’s give where we can and as God calls us to help those who are really in need. God will provide for us and “tomorrow will worry about itself”.
Taylor S This is my favorite verse. I get so stressed out, it is nice to go back to this to remind me that everything will be okay.
