Hannah just finished round two of trimester 2 last week. 🙂 We hit some of the fairy tales that she really likes, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. She’s definitely all girl. Loves to dance and sing and twirl and wear dresses and dress up like a princess. The third trimester books tend to be a bit longer and didn’t quite hold her attention last time around, but she did great today with a longer story and was able to relay some of the info to Daddy when he got home.
We’re also in the middle of working through the Language Arts K program (LAK), currently on week 15 of 36. We’ll just keep plodding along on that as long as she’s doing well. We’ve been doing a letter a week; making a poster, working on handwriting, and finding words/sounds for that letter. She seems like she should be ready to start reading any day now; she knows all her letter sounds, but so far the idea of blending the sounds together hasn’t sunk in. I’m not pushing it, so we are taking the reading part of the curriculum out for now until she shows interest. We might even go through the full ‘year’ again when we are done with it and add the reading back in.
She’s starting to draw a little bit more concretely! And when she focuses, her handwriting is really pretty good.
We do a little bit of math through IXL.com (they give you 20 free practice questions a day). We’ve almost “mastered” the pre-k skills and will move on to the K ones soon. She’s also been doing some dot-to-dots and mazes.
Hannah and Ben both seem to enjoy art projects with Nanny Kathy.
And the necessary pumpkin decorating for fall:
More to come . . .
