I found a set of paper models for a whole Bethlehem town last year sometime. Here is the blog of the author, My Little House. I think it was a homeschooling friend who posted about them. I wasn’t sure how long it would take us to do them and whether Hannah was really ready for them or not. So, we started with the first pack to see how long it would take us to do them.
So far, in one week, we’ve completed an angel, Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. Hannah usually does the gross cutting skills and some of the gluing. I usually have to do some trimming along the folding areas and most of the gluing and holding. They have been having fun playing with the completed people. We did the angel out of plain paper so I don’t think he’s going to survive, but the others are from cardstock and have a better chance.
We started the stable, but its a bit more complicated and will take us more than one day to do. Next I think we’ll do the shepherds, then the wisemen, then some animals. Not sure if we’ll do many of the random town buildings and people. Will have to see how much time we have and if the kids lose interest. If we do complete the whole town, I don’t know where we’ll display it. . . I’ll have to make room for it somewhere.
Here are some more pics: Nativity Models.
I’ll try to remember to post again when we’re all done. 🙂
Put them on your new bookshelf!
I have to save for it. I want a nice floor to ceiling wall unit that will replace the majority of shelves I have in the house. And then the school room will also be called the library. 🙂
