Benjamin has been enjoying having a bit more structured ‘school’ for him to do on a daily basis. It’s also been fun to see Hannah reading to him.
Six weeks down! We’ve started a few of the storybooks and won’t finish them for awhile. Uncle Wiggily, Stories From Around the World, and Lion Storyteller Book. We’ve also finished the first section of the Berenstein’s Bears Big Book of Science which was the months of the year and walking through a calendar. For Social Studies, we read about a different occupation each week in Things People Do. For weekly songs, we’ve done Jesus Love Me, This Little Light of Mine, Father Abraham, Yankee Doodle, Farmer and the Dell, and I’m a Little Teapot. He seems to enjoy the worksheets, just doesn’t like coloring as much as Hannah did.
We’ve gotten through 5 weeks of LAK learning the letters F, B, M, T, and R. Ben already knew all his letter sounds, but the practice writing the capitals and putting a little more focus on the lower case has been good. We’ll start attempting to read in a few weeks when we’ve got enough letters for a somewhat normal (but phonetic) story.
For extras, we’re doing our twice weekly PE class. We are enjoying making some good friends in this class that are the kids ages. We still try to do one outing a week with our homeschool group, but mostly they’ve been park days lately because it is so nice outside! We love AZ weather in January. 😉
Below are pictures of our letter posters and our weekly scripture memory wall.
