In the midst of all the moving chaos, we actually did get some school done. We passed week 12 somewhere in there, so this is a catch up post.
– For bible, we are working through his P4/5 bible now. One story a day. Up to Joshua era.
– For history/reading we continued with the storybook readers: Treasury of Mother Goose Rhymes, Children’s Book of Virtue, Uncle Wiggily, Lion Storyteller Bedtime Book, and Animals Animals.
– For Science, continued Berenstain Bear’s Big Book of Science we studied through the section for nature.
– For Social Studies, Things People Do, completing studies on the farmer, the garage owner, newspaper reporter, pilot, fire department, and the doctor.
Benjamin does well on his Developing the Early Learner worksheets for visual, auditory, memory, and thinking skills.
We’ve had weekly songs of Working on the Railroad, Five Little Ducks, John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes. All of which Benjamin already knew so we had fun singing them.
For Language (LAK), we are proceeding very well at about one letter per week. Sometimes, we take an extra day to complete all of our assignments, so are only on week 11. We’ll have plenty of time to finish before November when it’s time to start Kinder. We have hung all his letter sheets on the stairwell, it will be fun to see them all finished. Pictures here.
Extras: Since we’ve moved, we lost our PE class, but found a group that does a weekly park day. I’m sure we’ll find some more options, but just haven’t spent the time yet. We’re spending a bit of time in our community pool swimming and driving around to find all the fun neighborhood parks to play.
