11 Mo Update

I didn’t have time to write this up the other day, so here it is.

What is going on with Joel?

He starting walking around his 10 month mark and is pretty close to running everywhere now. He gets into everything and likes to climb up on stuff. I think he has a 6th sense for open doors or cabinets that he usually doesn’t get to go in.

He babbles quite a few sounds but nothing I would call a word yet. Sometimes I think he is trying to say something and we just don’t get it. We aren’t being very consistent with signing, but he is starting to wave and nod his head and will do the milk sign.

I’m done nursing. We switched him to primarily formula before all the holidays started and I tried to keep pumping for awhile but it was very obvious I wasn’t making enough to keep him happy for long. I just put the pump away last week. We’re both a lot happier now and he’s sleeping a lot better too. Somewhere during our transition, we all had colds and we let him sleep with us in our bed and he liked that a lot! Since we’ve gotten back into a routine in January and he’s going to bed with a more full tummy now, he’s spending the majority of the night in his room and mommy and daddy are really happy with getting a full night sleep again.

He’s wearing mostly 18 mo clothes. He could probably still fit in 12 mo, but its a pain and I’m lazy so 18 mo it is. With getting more milk, he’s been soaking through his cloth diapers almost every time. I was getting fed up with it and put him in some disposables for a day and he soaked through those too! Grr. So back to cloth while we are at the house and I just have to remember to take change of clothes in the bag. I guess he has a big bladder.

The olders still play nicely with him when they feel like it. The play is getting a little rougher as he is getting more durable. He likes to climb all over them and I’m pretty sure he’ll soon be tackling them. He loves to sit and ‘pretend’ to read books and turn the pages, but he really isn’t too interested in my reading to him yet. It is cute to watch!

He’s a happy baby and we love him to pieces!
