Hunter S I’m curious what the requirements are. Is it a written test? Do you get bonus points for already raising healthy kids?
Rebecca Diltz Nate Moehring It is a long list. They basically want your life story – finances, parenting history, what your childhood was like. You are fingerprinted and background checked. Then they have requirements for your house to be ‘safe’, like how you store meds and guns and how hot your water is. This specific certificate is only for the 39 odd training hours where they teach you about the effects of abuse and neglect and some parenting strategies. Basically, they have to ‘prove’ that we are safer than whoever they took the children from.
I wish we got bonus points! Not only do we have healthy children, but we were foster care certified for 7 years in AZ and still had to do it all again because TX doesn’t reciprocate.
