Once upon a time, Rebecca and Nate got some gutters and Rebecca wanted rain barrels in order to be conservation-y and have some water for her flowers and garden because she heard that they need water to grow. As time went on, and they realized that their roof produces more rain than fits in their barrels almost every time it rains, Nate got in the habit of opening the bottom drain of the rain barrels in order to ‘move’ the water away from the house which was why they needed gutters in the first place. However, this caused the rain barrels to cease to function as a water reservoirs and caused Rebecca to be frustrated. Haha. Hence, rain barrel solution round two –
The barrels came with overflow attachments (in order to attach more than one barrel together) which Rebecca hijacked to make new hose connections so Nate can put the overflow water wherever he wants to and Rebecca will still have water in the barrels.
And they will hopefully live happily ever after.
Moral of the story is, helping daddy fix the pipes all those years ago has finally paid off. And knowing a little bit of plumbing can’t hurt.
