Benjamin finished up his lapbook as a record of his 2nd grade year. He wasn’t as interested in making it look organized, but all the books he read this year are there. A couple other photos are here
For this last section bible readings, we read through Romans and had weekly memory verses.
In history/social studies, we finished up our spine, A Child’s History of the World, completed Gladys Alyward, and read With Two Hands. We also completed our tour of world cultures in Window on the World and marking all the countries of the world using Geography Songs.
Read Alouds were fun. We finished The Penderwicks, then read And the Word Came With Power and The Little Riders. We also finished Aesop for Children and our poetry book, Cornstalks: A Bushel of Poems.
Reading / LA continued our weekly schedule of Spelling, Phonics C, a cursive assignment, Wordly Wise B, and a creative assignment. Benjamin read Third Grade Detectives #10, The Last Little Cat, Tornado, and Jake Drake Bully Buster. He usually finished up his assigned reading before it was due so would read ahead in any number of books we have for extra reading time.
We managed to keep pace with science and read Marie Curie’s Search for Radium, read about different types of vehicles in Usborne Book of Knowledge as well as working through some electricity and light experiments in Discover and Do Level 2 and Science Activities, Vol 3.
For math, we continued working through Horizons 3. He will continue that into his 3rd grade year.
Extras always make homeschooling fun. We have our weekly piano, park, and Royal Rangers events. We went to the Ranger Museum, the Mayborn Museum, and had a lake day. The kids spent 10 days with grandparents while we were on our Alaska cruise and then they came along on our trip to New York to see the Schaders and back. Lots of fun memories from this last 6 weeks.
