Hannah finished week 12 a month ago but I’m just getting it written up. Week 6 started way back in the middle of September.
We are working on Hannah’s bible reading merit so we read a couple chapters each day as part of our family devotions. She also has a reading for school and we have a supplemental book called Children’s Bible Field Guide that we do each week. She also continues with her scripture memory.
In history/social studies, our main book this unit has been August Caesar’s World with The Story of the World: Ancient Times and The Usborne Encyclopedia of World History supplementing. We do a weekly current events reading as well.
Read Alouds have gotten longer, but that just lets us get more attached to the characters. We finished God King, The Trojan War, and The Silver Branch. We also have some poetry from Favorite Poems Old and New each day.
Reading and Language. We are working through Sequential Spelling 3 for spelling, Keys to Good Language 6 for grammar, and Wordly Wise 3000, Book 6 for vocabulary. We also have at least one assignment in cursive and a critical writing each week.
Hannah finished up Theras and His Town, Greek Myths, and Mystery of the Roman Ransom as readers this unit.
Science has mostly been reading but we do have some chemistry experiments every now and then. Our spines are What’s Science All About? and Chemically Active.
Math is still a struggle. She just doesn’t like it. But we get it done and move on, we are finishing up Horizons 5 so we can move into 6.
Hannah has decided that she likes homeschooling because of all the extras. She is experimenting with piano and writing her own songs. She has performed a few of them at church and always receives good feedback. We do Duolingo for a little Spanish practice. She finished up a volleyball season this unit and started taking some voice lessons. We also have a weekly playdate with a hs girl her age. Lots of giggling and crafts!
