Hannah started 7th grade without too much ado. We are in second half of world history so a lot of our spines are a continuation of last year.
We are still working on her bible reading merit for Girl’s Ministries. We are in Psalms so we’re calling it halfway! We have morning devotions and journaling together. During school Hannah has a separate reading assignment and memory work. We are reading a couple supplemental books about the bible – The BBC Manual and But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?
In history/social studies, our spines are The Story of the World: Early Modern Times, George Washington’s World, and The Usborne Encyclopedia of World History. We also do a current events assignment each week from our World Teen subscription. Our poetry book is called Classic Poetry.
Read Alouds have included A Murder for Her Majesty and The Dark Frigate.
Reading / LA is same ol’ same ol’ just a level up. We are doing spelling with Sequential Spelling 4, a weekly creative assignment, and vocabulary in Wordly Wise 3000, Book 7. She reads all her readers to herself and then I have to catch up when she is done. She read The King’s Fifth, The Iron Peacock, Marie Antoinette, and Chu Ju’s House.
I just got her science ordered, we’ll be doing Science H – Technology. Her first book is about robotics, I’m excited to see what all this core will have in it.
In math, we are chugging along in Horizons 6. She doesn’t ‘like’ math but she has been doing ok with it. She started using a notebook to do all her chicken scratch and I think that helped her feel like she didn’t have to keep it in the space provided.
I have been super proud of Hannah keeping track of her own stuff and being responsible and helpful. She only forgot to bring something one time that I know of between volleyball and church and Connections. We got her a phone when she started volleyball because the gym rules didn’t let us stay during her practices and we were sharing car pooling with a friend. She has to share her phone with the new business though, so she is splitting the cost with us. She is excited to be our worship leader for Active Love Church and is trying to teach herself guitar. She always gets a song list to me on time to make sure we have words ready. She still does a little bit of duolingo to practice Spanish and she and Benjamin have been helping us get Nate’s sermons edited and posted on time as well. She also helps a lot at Connections with customers and every couple weeks hosts a ‘craft’ activity.
Love how she is growing up and becoming more independent. She even started doing her laundry separate from ours (when we both got the same size pants, haha). It is fun to watch!
