Halfway Through 7th Grade

I had to write this up and post date it because I’m way behind. But still want the record. 🙂

We have been coasting on bible. Hannah is finishing up her 3-year bible reading requirement for Girl’s Ministries. We also do a journaling activity each week from The BBC Manual. She also has a weekly reading from Live Like a Jesus Freak. We still do a memory passage each week, she is usually on top of those.

In history/social studies, we are finishing George Washington’s World and starting Abraham Lincoln’s World and adding Story of the World: Early Modern Times as our spines. We have selections from Usborne Encyclopedia of World History as supplemental info and images. She also has a weekly current events assignment from her World Teen magazine.

Read Alouds were exciting. We read The Sherwood Ring, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and Mary Jones and Her Bible. We started Great Expectations.

Hannah does well with reading and writing most of the time and gets her creative assignment done each week. We have spelling in Sequential Spelling 4, poetry in Classic Poetry, and grammar in Wordly Wise 3000-Book 7.

Readers include finishing up In Search of Honor, then The Broken Blade, Betsy and the Emperor, and Homeless Bird.

Science this year is conservation, robotics, and technology. We finished up a book called Super Cool Tech which is pretty up to date (SpaceX is in there). She was doing her experiments out of a book called Robotics and then moved into Canals and Dams.

For math, we are finishing up Horizons 6. She doesn’t like math, but she is able to get her work done correctly most of the time.

Extras keep us busy. Hannah participates in karate with the others twice a week and we do PE once a week. She leads our worship on Thursday nights (by lead I mean she picks out the songs, practices, sends them out, and is our worship leader during the service – she is doing a great job), makes silly videos with her siblings, and spends a bunch of time at Connections. We had a lot of fun at our New Year’s Eve game party. We also fostered a dog named Brownie for about 6 weeks. Hannah liked taking her on walks. And we survived a round of snow and freezing weather – Hannah built a snow fort in the front yard that didn’t melt completely for 2 days!
