While we were out of town a few weeks ago, our neighbor’s tree got hit by lightning. A slice (see below) of the bark/tree flew all the way from the tree to his back porch. The lightning strike fried a bunch of their electronics and appliances.
It also popped at least one of our circuits. Our Wi-fi router actually rattles when you shake it and we had to replace the router and cable modem as well as our sprinkler controller. Everything was on surge protectors and gfci.
I guess you can’t protect against nature. Crazy!
