Woohoo, only 12 weeks left for Hannah. We will be going almost to August when we factor in our summer plans. Haha.
For bible we do a family devotion first in the morning. This year we are working through The Story with our church. Then Hannah does her own devotion time and school readings after that. She working through a devotional book called Finding Truth and she has memory passages each week.
In history, Hannah finished The Story of Science: Newton at the Center and started the next book called The Story of Science: Einstein Adds a New Dimension. She also finished The Mystery of the Periodic Table and read Stuff Matters and Bomb: The Race to Build. She does current events by writing a summary of a current new article in World Teen each week. She also still adds info to her timeline book on Fridays.
During this unit, she finished Shakespeare’s Secret, The Westing Game, Code Talkers, The Giver, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, A Christmas Carol, and Half a Chance and is working through a longer book called Echo. Her poetry selections are from The National Geographic Book of Poetry.
In language, Hannah has spelling with Sequential Spelling 6, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 8, cursive practice, and a creative assignment each week. She usually likes writing and gets into the various assignments.
Hannah is still having fun with her science experiments. They are laid out nicely and use common household items. She was super excited when she got a pencil to ‘levitate’ using magnets.
Hannah is working through Horizons Pre-Algebra this year. Still making steady progress but is not her favorite subject.
Hannah’s main extras are karate and volleyball. She has decided vball is her sport which is good because she is going to be the tallest girl on her hs team. 😉 She has been playing in a spring league and did some spring training with her coach for the fall. She’ll have a week of practice in the summer and her season starts Aug 1. Ahhh! She trained for and ran a tough mudder with Nate in March. We had our little foster go home this unit which freed up a little bit of our time (but not much). Hannah is a big help with all our Connections and Active Love events and was our craft coordinator for spring VBS. She is also our worship leader and we love it. She has become our chicken lady as Joel doesn’t want to be in charge of the chicks anymore. She got to attend her Royal Ranger commander’s wedding and we also had a field trip to watch the neighbor llamas get sheared. She tries to make some money about once a week and I’ve been told she is a great worker. Staying busy!
Paulette N how did you like Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH? It’s always been a favorite of mine. Good job on your 4th 6 weeks!!!
Hannah M I was surprised by how much it differed from the movie. I definitely like the book better.
Paulette N I agree😊
