Benjamin is doing well in the second half of World History. We are all staying on pace nicely. Pretty much the same routine as last year with some new supplemental books. Not much has changed since Hannah went through it so a little less work for me.
We are wrapping up our study through The Story with church, but that has been our devotion material in the mornings. Ben also has a devotional called The BBC Manual and read a book called But Don’t All Religions Lead to God? this unit. He has his own daily reading and weekly memory work.
In history/social studies, our spines will be The Story of the World: Early Modern Times and Usborne Encyclopedia 12,000 Years of World History. Benjamin does a current event assignment once a week using World Kids magazine.
During this unit I read A Murder for Her Majesty, The Arrow over the Door, and The Ghost at Tokaido Inn. We also have poetry selections each week from Classic Poetry.
For language we have Sequential Spelling 4 for spelling, a cursive assignment each week just to stay in practice, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 7, and a creative assignment each week. We’ve had a couple ‘tests’ to see if mom will accept the least-amount-of-effort-papers and I think he has realized that actually takes more work and will do a better job for the rest of the year.
Benjamin has read The King’s Fifth and The Iron Peacock this unit.
Science this year is a fun set of books. We are working through Robotics and will use that for experiments for awhile. He has also done some sections of Super Cool Tech.
Benjamin is working through Horizons Pre-Algebra this year and Hannah sometimes gets upset when he is learning a new topic because she had a hard time but it seems like Ben picks it up easily. 🙂 (She is doing really well this year though).
Extras include ukulele lessons and practice, karate twice a week, Royal Rangers on Wednesdays, a 6 week soccer season and all our Connections and church events. Benjamin is still very helpful as our tech man during services. Benjamin also got braces and his first phone this unit so it has been a big season for him. We had Founder’s Day in McGregor and the kids did some karate demonstrations, a trip to the beach and NASA with Dad, a tour of the Texas Ranger Museum with Grandpa and Grandma, and a trip to the circus with Gram.
Paulette N Way to go!!! Looks like math is a strength. 💕
