Ginny polished off her 12th week at the beginning of January and now I’m getting it documented.
In bible, we are working through some Stars material as our devotional content. For school, we have a book called Starting Strong and daily bible selections. We also read about and pray for a native group each week using American Indian Prayer Guide. And we have a weekly memory selection of a scripture or a speech.
In history/social studies, our spines are American History: A Visual Encyclopedia and Landmark History of the American People. We do timeline once a week and current events on Fridays with World Kids.
Read Alouds have been interesting even though introducing a lot of new concepts. We read Johnny Tremain and started Carry On, Mr. Bowditch. Our poetry book for the year is How to Eat a Poem.
In Reading / LA we have Sequential Spelling 1 for spelling, Wordly Wise 3000 Book 4 for vocabulary, and Grammar Ace for grammar. She has a weekly creative assignment or project. We do a cursive activity each week and rewrite any assignment that isn’t written neatly. Ginny finished The Sign of the Beaver, read Toliver’s Secret, Phoebe the Spy, and What’s the Big Idea, Ben Franklin? and started The Lewis and Clark Expedition.
For Science we are working through the A science videos and experiments with Joel. This unit we read First Encyclopedia of Seas and Oceans. She also had a weekly reading from The Story of Inventions.
Math is Horizons 4. She is still working Prodigy for some supplemental practice to help her with her multiplication/division facts. We will move straight into 5 when she is finished.
Extras were mostly holiday related. All the kids finished up karate with purple belts at the end of December. Ginny had a holiday piano recital in December. We had a lot of Christmas related events: white elephant, caroling, lights at the TX Christmas, and the kids put on a pageant at church which Ginny wrote the script for. We saw the Moehring clan at Thanksgiving and celebrated Grandpa Diltz’ 70th birthday. We took a Diltz trip to Riudoso, NM for Christmas. Ginny tried ice skating and we had a little bit of fun playing in the snow. It was actually warmer there than at home that week. We got Frodo the puppy this unit so Ginny has been taking her turns walking and feeding/watering.
Hope G Love it! ❤️
