This was our rainy day. We actually had really great weather. We only had a couple rainy days and because of the rain, everything had been blooming and the dust haze was knocked down so we had wonderful visibility all week.
We finished our morning drive to the furthest south that we went which was Tel Arad, ruins of a southern fortress from about 800 BC. We were able to climb down into the cistern (well) to see just how much water they could have kept inside the walls. They we headed back toward Jerusalem. More Tel Arad photos.
On the way we saw the flash floods from the rain and a shepherdess. She was wearing black to warn men that may not approach her on penalty of death by the tribesmen. More driving photos.
Our tour guide chose to take us to the Museum of Israel that afternoon since it was a rainy day. It was a natural history museum mostly, moving from prehistoric times into the different occupations up to present day. Lots of artifacts. We didn’t take a lot of photos inside.
This is a huge model of what Jerusalem would have looked like during the second temple period, you can see the temple is at the highest point of the city.
The white building was a fountain on the outside and museum of the Jewish scriptures on the inside (underneath).
Below is an ankle nail from a crucifixion. They said it was the only known artifact proving that this was a form of punishment.
Kids did pretty well but after a couple hours were done so we fast forwarded through history and went outside to play for a bit while we waited for the rest of the group. Museum photos
Terry R So cool for you to actually be there and experience it.
