And last but not least, Joel has finished his first 6 weeks as well.
His third grade schedule is: Core C World History II, LA3, Sci C Forces and Weather, Horizons 3, PE
In bible, Joel participates in our family devotions each morning, has school readings, and school memory passages. He also has memory work for children’s class.
In history/social studies, our main spines are A Child’s History of the World and Usborne Book of World History. We have finished Time Traveler Viking Raiders. We use Window on the World for country studies and he is working through Geography Songs to learn some geography. We have timeline and currents events on Fridays.
Read Alouds are fun. We read Red Sails to Capri and Sticks Across the Chimney. We have selections from Aesop for Children and 104 Poems of Whimsy and Wisdom each week.
In LA we are still using assigned spelling lists. Joel is a great phonetic speller but not good at English. He is starting to do better. We have a weekly cursive assignment, Phonics C for grammar, Wordly Wise B for vocabulary, as well as our weekly writing assignment. Working on paragraphs this unit.
Joel read Clara and the Bookwagon, The Long Way To a New Land, The Long Way Westward, Prairie School, Keep The Lights Burning Abbie, and Riding The Pony Express.
Science spines are DK Did You Know Science and The Story of Inventions. Joel also read Fossils Tell of Long Ago and Bringing Back the Wolves. Dad has been helping make sure Joel’s experiments are completed each week. Very helpful.
Math is Horizons 3. Joel is good at math naturally so he gets frustrated when he has to show his work or do it one particular way but does well overall.
Joel doesn’t have any extras right now. He’ll be doing a soccer camp in October. He tags along to all the sports, church, and Connections events. He’s a pretty chill kid. He sits with the drummer at church sometimes to try to learn rhythm.
Judy S 3rd grade is the best!! Enjoy, Joel!
Paulette N Awesome ❤️ Third grade is off to a great start.
