Halfway Through 6th Grade

For bible, Ginny participates in our family devotions, and has bible passages to read and memory work. She also has kid’s class memory work. For school we’ve been reading through The Case for a Creator for Kids

In history/social studies, we completed a unit on Vietnam and India. Our spine is Journey to the Eastern Hemisphere. She has notebook pages that correspond with it to help remember content. We also read selections from a book called 100 Gateway Cities. She has a timeline and current events assignment at the end of each week. This unit we also read Teresa of Calcutta.

Read Alouds included Breaking Stalin’s Nose, Rickshaw Girl, and The Land I Lost. We also have All the Small Poems as our poetry collection.

For math, Ginny is making progress on Horizons 5 this year. We will keep using Prodigy as a supplement.

In LA we have a weekly cursive assignment, spelling with Sequential Spelling 2, grammar with Keys to Good Language 6, and vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000 Book 5. Each week we have a writing assignment. Ginny read The Turning, Around the World in Eighty Days, and Just So Stories.

Science spines are The Usborne Complete Book of Human Body and Blood and Guts. Every now and then we have a selection from Food and Nutrition for Every Kid. Ginny also read Almost 12 and watched a movie called Unlocking the Mystery of Life.

Ginny doesn’t have any extras at the moment. She’ll be starting back up on piano in the spring. She gets to watch Ben’s bball games and help at Connections and church events. We had two trips to CP and Bandera for Thanksgiving/Birthdays/Christmas. The Diltzs came up for Christmas day and we made tie dye shirts.
