Finished week 18 by the end of December. Woohoo!
Benjamin is followed along with our church as we read the bible this year on YouVersion and we are starting a new one this year. He has school memory work each week. Benjamin has been reading Finding Truth for his theology book this unit.
In history/social studies, are working through Newton At The Center. Ben also read The Clockwork Universe, Longitude, and The Mystery of the Periodic Table. He still does timeline and current events on Fridays. Nate has been doing Benjamin’s read alouds. He read Belle Prater’s Boy, Shakespeare’s Secret, and Fish in a Tree.
For readers, Benjamin read The Outlaws of Sherwood and Treasure Island. He started Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. He also has National Geographic Book of Nature Poetry for some poetry selections each week.
Math is Math U See Algebra I and Benjamin finishes easily each week.
LA consists of Sequential Spelling 5 for spelling, Classical Roots A for Latin, Wordly Wise Book 8 for vocabulary. A weekly creative assignment is where Ben needs some work. He can do well when he tries but usually he doesn’t put much effort in and we have to push him.
Science is built into his reading and history, but he still has an experiment each week.
This is Ben’s favorite time of year. We are busy with basketball practice once or twice a week and one or two games weekly. He plays wing and post interchangeably. He has hit a couple of 3 pointer and is getting better at layups and putbacks. We had two trips to Bandera and Center Point this unit for Thanksgiving, Birthdays, and Christmas celebrations. He had 9 friends join him for a video game birthday party. He participated in a youth mystery dinner and played his part well. He babysits about once a week. He keeps our tech running smoothly at church events and is a pretty good all around helper at home too. Great first half of the year.
