How we
Met

Becca’s Story: We both attend a group called Aggie Lutherans.
I was searching for friends and he was looking for ministry opportunities.
The first time that I remember really noticing him was when we had a social
event at GattiLand. We flirted around and I enjoyed his company. Later
that week I was having problems with my ex-boyfriend and I called Nate
just to talk. He took it as a ministry opportunity and came over for awhile.
After that, we became good friends and spent a lot of time talking during
road trips home for YARPs and breaks (His parents live in Bandera, about
30 min from Center Point). Everything fell into place and has been going
great since!

Nate’s Story: So much good stuff that Becca left out. . . When I
met Becca I was a 5th year senior about to graduate. Most of my friends from
college had moved away and gotten real jobs, so I needed to find a
student organization where I could make new friends. I already knew a
few of the people in Aggie Lutherans, so it was the logical place to start.
I remember meeting Rebecca at Aggie Lutherans for the first time. She
was outgoing, full of laughter, and had a wonderful smile. I quickly and
intentionally introduced myself to her, but didn’t dwell on her, afterall I
wasn’t interested in dating a freshman, and I was there to make friends. About
a week later Aggie Lutherans went to Mr. Gatti’s. We were all waiting at
the church to leave as a group, I was sitting in the grass, and to my
surprise she came up and sat down behind me so we could lean back to back.
I’d say this is where the chemistry started, even though we didn’t talk
much, it just felt good. We flirted the remainder of the night and went
to see Zoolander with some of the Aggie Lutherans, but she wouldn’t sit
by me… About a week later she called me because she was upset with her
ex-boyfriend. Around this time I had been praying to be more open to
personal ministry opportunities, and I recognized this as being one of
them. I went to her dorm to be a listening ear, and I wanted to learn more
about her. Later I found out that she intentionally changed into some
short shorts before I came over to catch my attention. Shortly after that
we went on a date, but she actually told me afterwards that she just wanted
to be friends. I thought it should be easy for me to move on to the next
fish (in the sea, not freshman), afterall she was just a freshman and
I didn’t know for sure at the time if I was going to be accepted into
graduate school for the next semester anyway, but I was unable to do so.
But after a couple of weeks of torture (for both of us) she seemed to
resolve her personal issues, and we started to spend more and more time
together. The rest is history!
